Situada en Sanlúcar de Barrameda, donde es considerada toda una institución, Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana es dirigida en la actualidad por la quinta generación de la familia Hidalgo y cuenta con más de 200 hectáreas de viñedos en los pagos de Balbaina y Miraflores, los mejores del Distrito de Jerez. La bodega, a escasos 300 metros de la desembocadura del Guadalquivir, cuenta para la crianza de sus vinos con una influencia marítima que marca el envejecimiento y las peculiaridades de su gama de manzanillas, amontillados y olorosos. Manzanilla La Gitana es sin duda la estrella de la bodega, una manzanilla elaborada a partir de mosto de palomino fino de aromas complejos, punzantes y delicados, característicos de su elaboración y crianza. En boca se muestra fresco, seco, ligero al paladar y con un toque amargo. Envejecido en botas de roble americano mediante el tradicional sistema de Criaderas y Solera.

The production region of D.O. Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda is located in Exclusivamente Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz, España. Hasta 1964 se comercializó bajo la Denominación de Origen Jerez-Xérès-Sherry, reconociéndose posteriormente el carácter especial de la manzanilla dentro de los demás jereces.
