The production region of A.O.C. Chambertin is located in Exclusivamente los viñedos Grand Cru de vino tinto en la subregión Côte de Nuits de Borgoña, con Pinot noir como principal variedad de uva. Chambertin se encuentra dentro de la comuna de Gevrey-Chambertin, y está situado aproximadamente en el centro de un grupo de nueve viñedos Grand Cru, todos con Chambertin como parte de su nombre. Los otros ocho viñedos, que son todos AOC separados, tienen nombres con guiones donde aparece Chambertin junto con otra cosa, como Chapelle-Chambertin. Chambertin en sí está situado al oeste de la Route des Grands Crus. Limita con Chambertin-Clos de Bèze en el norte, Griotte-Chambertin y Charmes-Chambertin en el este y con Latricières-Chambertin en el sur.
