Father John es la bodega personal del joven emprendedor Nicholas Maloney, quien después de trabajar en diferentes regiones de Francia –Margaux, Haut Savoie y Bourgogne–, en 2010 decidió empezar su propio proyecto en su tierra natal, en Mendocino, al norte de California. El nombre de la bodega es un homenaje a su abuelo, el reverendo John Weaver. Father John Mendocino Comptche es uno de sus delicados, sutiles y fragantes pinot noir, que proviene de un viñedo que está al norte de Anderson Valley.
