Carlos Esteva, propietario de Can Ràfols dels Caus, ha sido uno de los revolucionarios de los vinos del Penedès. En 1981 introdujo la variedad merlot a la zona y en 1990 elaboró por primera vez Caus Lubis, un tinto que se crió durante un año en barrica y 8 más en botella antes de salir al mercado. Tiene una nariz compleja y profunda con una boca intensa, elegante y un larguísimo final. Una joya para disfrutar acompañando carnes rojas y de caza, así como quesos maduros de oveja o vaca.

The production region of D.O. Penedès is located in La región catalana del Penedés, en España. Comprende 47 términos municipales en el sur de la provincia de Barcelona, y 16 términos municipales en la provincia de Tarragona. Se divide en tres subzonas: Penedès Superior, situada en el interior y en la montaña, con escasa producción debido a las condiciones de cultivo, pero de una gran calidad, Penedès Medio, situada al sudeste y la de mayor producción, y Penedès Inferior en la zona costera.
