Mernat se presenta como el hermano moderno del monovarietal Bucamel, un inusual coupage de cinco variedades que toma del Merlot la sutileza, del Syrah su boca carnosa, del Tempranillo su aroma, del Petit Verdot su "agradable rusticidad" y del Cabernet su estructura. Envejecido durante 14 meses en barricas de roble francés.
