El suelo que nutre las cepas de Mas Alta está compuesto de llicorella compacta (pizarra), una textura que obliga a la planta a arraigar profundamente hasta llegar al subsuelo de arcilla roja que permite su regulación hídrica cualitativa. Las cepas, de cariñena centenaria, garnacha de más de 40 años y cabernet (20 años), ofrecen unos rendimientos de 250 gramos por planta. La cuidada selección para este vino da como resultado un vino potente, de gran estructura, frutal y, cómo no, mineral. Envejecido durante 18 meses en barricas nuevas (90%) y de primer año (10%) de roble francés.
