The production region of A.O.C. Côtes de Bourg is located in Exclusivamente la región situada en torno a la pequeña ciudad de Bourg-sur-Gironde, a 20 km al noroeste de Burdeos, en la confluencia de los ríos Dordogne y Garrone con una altitud media de 20 m sobre el nivel del mar. Los primeros viñedos de la zona fueron fundados por los romanos. En la Edad Media, Bourg era un importante puerto para el vino y los viñedos se desarrollaron al mismo ritmo que el tráfico del estuario. La denominación Côtes de Bourg, en el norte del mosaico de vinos de Burdeos, dio sus primeros pasos en la orilla oriental de la Gironda. En ese momento, los habitantes de Bourg eran pescadores, marineros o enólogos, y este último se benefició de la combinación perfecta de un pueblo de mentalidad comercial y un suelo hecho para la vid.
