Los vinos de solera de De Muller son obras de arte, creaciones llenas de historia y de tradición, que el viejo roble acaba de cincelar con el paso de los años. Son vinos sabios, singulares, con una producción extremadamente limitada. Vinos delicados, extremadamente ricos en sensaciones y con un equilibrio admirable. La elaboración de los vinos de solera se lleva a cabo en barricas apiladas en hileras situadas en diferentes niveles, normalmente tres pisos. El piso inferior es llamado solera, por su proximidad al suelo, y contiene el vino más envejecido. De estas soleras se retira una cierta cantidad de vino (normalmente 1/3 del total) para ser embotellado y el volumen vaciado es rápidamente reemplazado por 1/3 del vino contenido en la denominada primera criadera, el cual, del mismo modo, es rellenado con vino de la barrica inmediatamente superior, la segunda criadera. Las barricas del último piso se completan con 1/3 de vino nuevo, procedente de fudres de madera donde ha experimentado un envejecimiento oxidativo. Envejecido en barricas de roble, mediante el sistema de criaderas y soleras.
