The production region of A.O.C. Entre-deux-Mers is located in La región vinícola de Burdeos situada entre los ríos Garona y Dordogne, y limita al este con el departamento de Gironda y al oeste con el Bec d'Ambès. En 3.000 hectáreas, es la subregión más grande de Burdeos aunque, como hay grandes áreas de bosque, se usa relativamente poco para cultivar uvas. El área total de vid es de aproximadamente 1,500 hectáreas, con cerca de 250 productores de vino. El nombre de la región se deriva, no de la palabra francesa "mer" (mar), sino de "marée" (marea). Por lo tanto, significa "entre dos mareas", una referencia a su ubicación entre dos ríos de marea.
