Mas Candí es el resultado de la unión de cuatro jóvenes payeses para recuperar el trabajo del viñedo de sus abuelos. Las viñas se sitúan en Les Gunyoles d'Avinyonet, en pleno Parque Natural del Garraf, en la que practican una agricultura biológica, sin abonos químicos ni pesticidas. Con el cometido de seguir las tradiciones de sus antepasados, en Mas Candí se elaboran vinos con concepto terroir, buscando la recuperación de las variedades autóctonas: xarel·lo, sumoll, mandó y malvasia de Sitges, entre otras. Grata sorpresa fue encontrarnos con sus vinos de xarel·lo; vinos autóctonos con el máximo respeto por la tierra y una fiel reproducción del xarel·lo en estado puro. Desig es el resultado obtenido de una viña de xarel·lo plantada en 1961 sin apenas cultivo, siendo así un máximo representante del terroir. Tiene una crianza con sus lías, aunque sin contacto con la madera, por lo que se presenta sumamente compacto. Las primeras percepciones aromáticas son de humedad, de cartón seco, polvo que a continuación dan paso a un olor característico de grappa italiana (raspón vegetal). Desig es sensacional porque, aun siendo un vino joven, desarrolla un gran potencial carnoso, compacto y con extracto. Un final salino, fresco y ligero define con creces cómo es la variedad xarel·lo. Criado durante 7 meses con sus lías en depósitos de acero inoxidable.

The production region of D.O. Penedès is located in La región catalana del Penedés, en España. Comprende 47 términos municipales en el sur de la provincia de Barcelona, y 16 términos municipales en la provincia de Tarragona. Se divide en tres subzonas: Penedès Superior, situada en el interior y en la montaña, con escasa producción debido a las condiciones de cultivo, pero de una gran calidad, Penedès Medio, situada al sudeste y la de mayor producción, y Penedès Inferior en la zona costera.
