The production region of D.O. León is located in El sureste de la provincia de León, Castilla y León, España, a la que también están adscritos otros municipios de las provincias limítrofes de Zamora y Valladolid. Abarca la influencia de dos riberas, Esla y Cea, siendo esta última donde originalmente se formó la asociación de bodegas y cooperativas Valdevimbre-Los Oteros, que posteriormente daría paso a la actual denominación.
