The production region of A.O.C. Graves is located in La comarca de Graves, una subregión importante de la región vinícola de Burdeos, situada en la margen izquierda del río Garona, en la parte superior de la región, al sureste de la ciudad de Burdeos y que se extiende por más de 50 kilómetros. Es la única subregión de Burdeos que es famosa por los tres tipos de vinos principales de Burdeos: tintos, blancos secos y vinos dulces, aunque los vinos tintos dominan la producción total. Cubre la mayoría, pero no toda, la subregión de Graves, abarcando pueblos como Sauternes, Pessac, Talence, Léognan, Martillac, Saint-Morillon y Portets.
