The production region of A.O.C. Pomerol is located in La comarca más pequeña de las principales regiones de vinos finos en Burdeos, que cubre un área de aproximadamente 3 kilómetros de ancho por 4 kilómetros de largo. Es aproximadamente una séptima parte del tamaño de su vecino de la orilla derecha, Saint-Émilion, mucho más grande, y está a la par de la comuna más pequeña de la margen izquierda de Saint-Julien AOC en el Médoc. A diferencia de otras regiones vinícolas francesas, como Borgoña y el Valle del Ródano, actualmente no hay cooperativas que operen en Pomerol.
