J. L. Chave Sélection Farconnet es un gran vino para iniciarse a los vinos del heroico rey del Hermitage, Jean-Louis Chave. Está elaborado en base a viñas de syrah de hasta 60 años de tres parcelas distintas de este legendario viñedo a orillas del Ródano: Diognières está en la base de la colina en suelo aluvial traído por el río hace siglos. Es un suelo de arcilla arenosa con muchos pequeños guijarros, y dota al vino de notas especiadas. La parcela de Péleat, se sitúa por encima de Diognières y se compone de más arena y caliza y da finura al vino. Por último, Greffieux que se sienta en la base de Le Meal. Su suelo consiste en piedras de río de canto rodado traídas por los glaciares y dona cuerpo al vino.

The production region of A.O.C. Hermitage is located in La región vinícola del norte del Ródano, al sur de Lyon. La denominación procede de la ciudad de Tain l'Hermitage. Las vides crecen en el lado suroeste de una empinada colina de granito frente al sol de la tarde y se pueden dividir en varios viñedos más pequeños. Estos son Les Bessards al oeste, L'Hermite y La Chapelle en la cima de la montaña, y Bessards, Le Méal, Les Greffieux y Murets al este.
