De hecho, sólo 3 familias diferentes han sido dueños de esta finca de Staint Émilion desde sus inicios. La familia Lescours, del siglo XIII al XVI. Seguido por Jacques de Lescure y sus herederos en el siglo XVII. Al final del siglo XVII, la familia Chatonnet-Cantenat junto con la familia Dubois-Challon-Vauthier se hizo cargo. Hoy en dia, Alain Vauthier dirije Château Ausone junto con su hija Pauline Vauthier. Al preguntar a cualquier productor de vino de Burdeos o propietarios de Châteaux, la inmensa mayoría coinciden en que el mejor terroir en Burdeos lo posee Château Ausone. The production region of A.O.C. Saint-Émilion is located in La comarca de Libourne, en la margen derecha de la Dordoña. Está registrado como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO y sus 5.400 hectáreas representan el 67,5% de la superficie total de las comunas vitivinícolas (Saint-Émilion, Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, Saint-Hippolyte, Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, Saint-Laurent-des- Combes, Saint-Pey-d'Armens, Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens, Vignonet, y una parte de la comuna de Libourne) y el 6% del total de viñedos de Burdeos.
