Cascina La Barbatella, una bodega que gozó de un gran prestigio en los ochenta bajo la dirección de Angelo Sonvico, es conducida actualmente por la familia Perego con la participación de un joven y entusiasta equipo. Todos ellos, junto a la inestimable ayuda de dos enólogos de los de toda la vida, Giuliano Noè y Beppe Rattazzo, continúan escribiendo la historia de una de las bodegas más importantes del vino de Monferrato. Sin duda alguna, la variedad reina en los viñedos de La Barbatella es la barbera, una uva que la bodega vinifica en toda su pureza, aunque también cultivan una de las variedades internacionales más apreciadas, la cabernet sauvignon. Tanto con una como con la otra, elaboran vinos de una reconocida excelencia. Su Ruanera es un excelente tinto en el que la frutosidad, la sequedad y la frescura de la barbera se complementan con el cuerpo, la elegancia y las notas herbáceas de la cabernet sauvignon. Las uvas son cosechadas en su plena madurez y se vinifican por separado en acero inoxidable. A partir de la primavera se procede a su ensamblaje, 70% de cabernet sauvignon y 30% de barbera, y de él nace un vino carnoso, agradable y con gran equilibrio. Un tinto elegante y de intenso color rubí. En nariz destacan sus aromas frutales (mora, grosella y ciruela), pero también sus suaves matices de hoja de tomate, pimienta rosa y tabaco, en un limpio bouquet que armoniza la fruta con las notas especiadas. En boca, es pura satisfacción: rico, con cuerpo y una vibrante frescura, afrutado, persistente. Aunque el ensamblaje es original, el resultado es de una elegancia clásica y confirma a este tinto de Monferrato como una gran opción año tras año.
