Elaborado a partir de cepas viejas de garnacha, con una edad media de 60 años, cultivadas a 950 metros de altitud, sobre suelo pizarroso, en los municipios de Castejón de Alarba, Alarba y Acered. Su nombre proviene de una antigua unidad de medida del vino equivalente a 12 cántaros o 120 litros. Envejecido, en contacto con sus propias lías, durante 14 meses en barricas nuevas de roble francés, con periódicos batonnage.
