Banyuls is located in Las terrazas de las laderas del Pirineo catalán en el condado de Roussillon de Francia, limitando al sur con la región vinícola del Empordà en Cataluña, España. El área de producción está limitada a cuatro comunas de la Côte Vermeille: Banyuls (de la cual toma su nombre), Cerbère, Collioure y Port-Vendres.
