Un vino sin duda fragante, de una gran calidad, placentero, con el que muy pocos otros vinos pueden competir en su gama de precio. Pétalos se elabora con uva de cepas muy viejas, plantadas a altitudes muy elevadas, en el término de Corullón, donde los suelos son mayoritariamente pizarrosos, en contraste con la mayoría de la región, de naturaleza arcillosa. Nace pues con unas condiciones ya muy específicas, a pesar de estar concebido, como sucede en Borgoña, como un vino regional, un vino de introducción al Bierzo. Lo es, sólo que con una personalidad diferenciada. A grandes rasgos, Pétalos es un vino de carácter atlántico y en él predomina la fruta acidulante, como corresponde a esta zona, con tan pocas horas de sol. No obstante, es un vino amable y dulzón, con un toque de golosina azucarada. Pétalos está en la línea del gran Moncerbal, cristalino y fluido, y ofrece sensaciones de fruta concentrada, que no sobremadura (los rendimientos de estos viñedos son bajísimos), huellas minerales, notas de grafito, humus y un fondo balsámico que gana en intensidad con el tiempo en copa; notas ahumadas también, silvestres (violetas, flor de jara), frescas... que se suman a su complejidad aromática y definen su perfil, un vino perfumado y femenino. En boca contrasta su gran acidez con una muy agradable sensación de terciopelo. El vino es potente, intenso, graso, con recuerdos de plantas aromáticas que le confieren un fondo sutilmente amargoso. La sensación de suavidad es el rasgo que mejor define el paladar... y su nombre: Pétalos.
