Este aguardiente gallego, como su nombre indica, se obtiene por destilación de los orujos procedentes de las vinificaciones. Estos orujos, que en Galicia se denominan "bagazos", han de estar totalmente fermentados para obtener un buen destilado. Vedra del Ulla se obtiene mediante la destilación de orujos de las variedades Roxo, Blanco y Tintilla. Servir fresco, pero nunca congelado, para poder degustar todos sus matices.
